Fall Highlights: Bed & Breakfast on the 34th Annual 19th ward House tour!

An Except From The Event...

The 34th House Tour of the 19th Ward Community Association will be held on Saturday, October 10 from 12 to 5 pm. The House Tour Committee promises a tour that offers something for everyone.

Start the tour at 10:30am with a pre-tour slide presentation, Architectural Styles in Rochester’s 19th Ward, by Cynthia Howk, Architectural Research Coordinator for the Landmark Society of Western New York. Free with your House Tour ticket/book, the presentation will be held at the Staybridge Suites Hotel, 1000 Genesee Street. Tour participants raved about Cynthia’s talk last year. You don’t want to miss it. A special thanks to Peter Evans, general contractor, for underwriting the cost of this presentation – in addition to showing his home on this year’s tour!

Looking for decorating ideas? Thinking of finishing off that attic or add a porch? Wondering how to update or expand your beautiful gumwood kitchen? Wallpaper or paint? Should I begin to strip that painted trim? How about adding some creative painting techniques? Meet some 19th Ward homeowners who have asked and answered many of those questions.

Come admire the homes, chat with the homeowners and make some new friends.

To those who visit from afar (the East side or perhaps Gates or Webster!), come see what is going on in the 19th Ward. The 19th Ward is alive and well with some long-standing Warders aging gracefully in place, retirees returning, young professionals moving in, and lots of folks taking pride in decorating, rehabbing, expanding or landscaping their great homes A special feature this year is a home owned by someone who grew up in the Ward, moved away for school and her professional career, and now returns to enjoy retirement – across the street from the home she grew up in! Check out the Ward’s only Bed and Breakfast (Peter's Vintage B&B) , and learn about the Youth CafĂ© hosted by the West Avenue United Methodist Church.
